On-site event Autumn/Spring 2026 in Vienna, Austria, co-hosted by Austrian Airlines

(source: Diego Delso)

As you no doubt have heard, the geopolitical situation in the Middle East has forced us to move our conference's Spring event from April to October. Life in Dubai has returned to normality, but unfortunately the conflict is still not fully resolved. So we took the only call we could take now: move the conference to a different location.

A new location has been found for the 2026 Agifors Crew Management Study Group Meeting. Austrian Airlines has gracefully agreed to step in last minute and to co-host the event in Vienna.

So, we will meet again somewhere in Europe on October 20-22, 2026.

Overview

Major topics to be discussed and reviewed relate to Manpower Planning, Crew Operational Disruption Management, Crew Rosters, Preferential Bidding, Crew Recovery, Crew Systems Access, System Integration, Airline Integrated Solutions, KPIs and Post-operation analysis, Machine Learning, Crew Management Systems and the impact of industry changes on crew management.

Come and share with us your ideas, thoughts, current trends, philosophies, and latest technological advances on any of the above topics.

The agenda is open and we happily accept your requests. Please reach out to crew@agifors.org to submit your request for presentation.

Hotel

We have selected the Hilton Vienna Park hotel as the venue for the conference.

Adjacent to the city park, it is 16 minutes from the airport and offers excellent public transport connections. Walk 12 minutes to St. Stephen’s Cathedral or explore the Naschmarkt. Inspired by Viennese Modernism and Secession, the hotel offers LENZ restaurant, the vibrant Selleny's bar, and the largest Executive Lounge in Vienna.

As we are already very close to the date itself, a block of rooms was no longer an option. So, my advise would be to book your room in either the conference hotel or a hotel of choice nearby ASAP.

Sponsors

The policy of AGIFORS for all their meetings are to have the registration fee for Airline staff and Academics as low as possible. The philosophy behind this is that academics are likely to enter new lines of thought into our field, and having a strong presence by airlines brings great value to both the vendors and the airlines.

It would therefore be great if your organisation could this year be one of our sponsors

General Info

Autumn is one of the better times to be in Vienna. The vineyards inside the city limits turn colour, the cultural season restarts, and the parks are still comfortable to walk in.

October is Sturm season, when Vienna's Heurigen serve the cloudy, half fermented young wine alongside cold platters of roast pork, spreads and dark bread. Vienna is the only major capital with commercial wine production within its boundaries, and the marked wine trails over the Nussberg and Kahlenberg end at a tavern more often than not. All of it is reachable by tram or bus from the centre.

On the culture side, the Autumn of Art fills the galleries, fair halls and palaces from September onward. For a quieter afternoon, the Central Cemetery with its honorary graves from Beethoven to Falco is at its best under autumn leaves, and the green Prater, Schönbrunn Zoo and the Lainz Game Reserve are all inside the city.

Weather in October

With refreshingly cool days and crisp, breezy evenings, the Vienna weather in October is everything you want in a fall vacation. Daylight hours shorten from 11.5 to 9.5 hours over the month, but with a daily average of 7 hours of sunshine, there’s plenty of opportunity to get outdoors and explore. Some rainfall is common in October, but prolonged heavy rain and cloud cover are rare.

Layering is key to a comfortable visit, as temperatures can vary dramatically throughout the day. Bring lightweight shirts, sweaters, and pants, along with a waterproof jacket and closed-toe shoes or boots. A coat, scarf, and gloves will keep you warm on chilly nights. And don't forget a dressier outfit for any formal dinners or evening events.

  • Average daytime temperature: 52 F (11 C)
  • Average night temperature: 43 F (6 C)
  • Average days of rain: 13 days
  • Average hours of sunshine: 7 hours
